Button Buddies Free Card Kits!

One of the sets in the current Stampin' Up! Main Idea Book and Catalog that I think is stinkin' cute is called Button Buddies.  My favorite image...the pig!  I have been having fun with this set as of late.  I realized that I do not use buttons all that often in my paper crafting.  So, stretch my creative muscles and wahlah! Well, Stampin' Up did the hard work, I just added the buttons. ;-)  I have four cards I have made using this stamp set.  Here they are...

Cute, cute, cute!  You wanna make them?  Great!

My not so little loveys

March is over.  March for me is birthday month.  Both of my children were born in March.  Always makes for a busy month.  My son, Thomas, just turned 14 (gasp!) and my daughter, Olivia, just turned 12.  Where did those years go, I ask you??  I feel that since I have still not lost the "baby weight" it is unfair of the child to grow up! :-)  But grow up they have.  Thomas is 6'.  He shall be a big, strapping man.  Knew that at his birth! Lordy! He was 10 pounds at birth.  I never got the chance to put him in the cute newbie clothes.  He came out ready for 2 month clothing!  Livi, on the other hand, is as dainty as you please.  She was a 9 pound, chubby, sweet smelling, rolly polly at birth, but she is so dainty now.  One of my favorite things to do on laundry day is look at her clothes.  (Shhh, don't tell her I get all sentimental over her clothes) Her clothes are... well, hate to repeat myself, but...dainty. 

Anyway, I made them cards for their special days.  I got all sentimental in what I wrote inside, and basically did the "Mom thing."  Who knew I would turn into my own mom and cry at the drop of a hat?  Sorry Mom for rolling my eyes when you cried when I was younger.  Didn't get it.  Got it now. 

They asked if I was going to put their cards up on my blog.  I asked if they wanted me to.  They asked if I wanted to.  I said...well anyway...long story shorter...here they are:

Thomas' card:

Thomas has always been into animals.  Eagles and wolves in particular.  And the sentiment...so true.  He DOES inspire me.  Leaves me in awe.  Leaves me speechless (in a good way), and I could not be more proud of the man he is becoming.  (Hang on, I need a hanky.)  Question:  That smudge above the eagle was not there when I gave him the card.  I do not remember seeing it when taking the photo.  Where'd it come from?  Hmmm. Let's pretend it's not there!

Olivia's card:

Livi is my sparkle girl.  Or "sparkletastic" as she would say. :-) We are in the process of painting her room. (Please do not ask me how long we have been " in the process." )   Pool party is a pretty close match to the color she picked.  Livi stamps with me frequently.  She has a wonderful sense of fun and color to the cards she designs.  Me, well a little more understated.  I tried to bling it up for her.  She was pleased.  Made me cry.  Olivia is what I call an old soul.  She is wise beyond her years, her humor is sharp, but kind, and her advice...better than Dr Phil's.  Swear!  When I get all muddled up in "Life," she can make things simple for me.  She knows how to get to the point.  I admire her.  I want to be her when I grow up. (Where's that hanky?!)

Yes, the Lord blessed me with my children.  Noted, by me, every day.

A Muttley Crew

One of the sets that makes me laugh is the stamp set Not So Seriously.  I have had the set for a bit, but it had not seen any ink.  I found myself with some time, so I took a peek at the Mojo Monday sketch for the week.  Here's the card I came up with. 

I love the happiness of the mutts on the card.  What cracks me up the most is the wide, toothy grin on the Dachshund!  The Fire hydrant comes from a retired set called Man's Best Friend.  I do not have the stamp set, but I do have the brush set in My Digital Studio.  I added a leash instead of a bow.  See, the dogs are wishing the card recipient a happy birthday filled with all of their favorite things! Ha!  The inside of the card says, "From the whole muttley crew."  Cute. :-)

Everyday Enchantment

Good morning Stampers!  I really have a back log of projects to show you.  My bad. 

Today are two very simple cards which use my favorite DSP, Everyday Enchantment.  The card on the left uses my favorite pattern from the stack.  I really like the delicate look of the pattern.  I made two different versions of the card.  A change of paper and the whole feel of the card changes!  I think the blue/green gives a soft feel and the orange and blue says, "Hey y'all, let's have fun!"  Okay, maybe not the southern accent, but it is definitely more BaZing! Pop!  The orange and blue card is a close CASE of a card done by Dawn Olchefske.  The blue/green version is my personality speaking.  The Perfectly Penned sentiment finishes the card nicely.

Inspire, Create and Share

Every once in awhile, I hold an event at my home for my customers.  I would really like to hold more events, but I do what I can do.  :-)  At my last event I made some card boxes as booking gifts.  Anyone who booked a workshop with me, received a box.  When my daughter, Olivia, and I made the boxes, we had a bet.  She picked the colors for one box, and I picked the colors for the other.  Our bet was...whose box would be picked first!  We had a wonderful time creating the boxes.  Here they are...

This box uses the Berry Blossoms DSP from the Main IBC.  It is so bright and cheery!  We accented the box with some Black 1/2" Scallop Ribbon.  Vanilla Hodgepodge on the side of the box for a label to be added.  Here's a closer look at the lid.  We made Rossettes with the Rossette Die and then layerd flowers on the top. The flowers are from a retired punch, Trio Flower Punch.  However, you can still purchase the punch from the clearance rack last time I peeked.  The pearls are SU's Basic Pearls which we colored with a green Sharpie!  That is such a cool thing to change the colors of the pearls and rhinestones!  They are instantly dry and ready for the project.



And here is the second box.  Muted tones from the DSP Beau Chateau.  Victoria Crochet Trim and Basic Pearls--the Jumbo ones from the Occasions Mini adorn this box.

Here's the top view of this box.  Another Rossette, lots of little pearls and some retired Satin Roses. A very soft, vintage box.

So, any guesses as to which box is Olivia's colors and which is mine? :-)  Leave me a comment!

Below is some of the gals working on the cards.  Which reminds me, I have not posted those cards yet!  I think I still need to take pictures of them. I had two more tables in another room.  My house is not large, but I can manage 20 ladies for an event.  No one minds a bit of coziness. :-)  My husband moves all of the furniture out of the way.  Good man.

Young Vermillion

One of the stamps that you can receive free during Sale-a-bration (still in full swing, by the way) is this image of a Young Vermilion.  It is a single stamp, but it is so beautiful, that there is no need for more!  This card was one that I did in a workshop last month.  It was my "going-out-of-my-comfort-zone" card.  At times I like to stretch my creative muscles and design a card that is not so "Kristine."  This is one of those cards.  Except, now that I look at it, it is actually more me than I thought?  Hmmm.  The challenge I set for myself was to use a color combo from the Color Coach. I told myself that I must use colors that do not match in my opinion.  So here is the card.  The colors are Bravo Burgundy, Baja Breeze and River Rock.

A Young Vermilion in real life is a brilliant red color.  I took a little creative license because, well...it had to match the color combo!  And, I must admit...yes, I do believe that the colors match.  I have never been one to mix hues of red and blue.  And River Rock...well, it's the cameleon of the SU colors.  I swear to Howdy that it reflects the tones of the colors it's with.  Reminds me of a girl in high school who was constantly changing herself to match those around her.  I wasn't too thrilled by her either. Where'd that thought come from?  I digress.  Sorry.  Back to the card.  A-hum...the card also uses the cool Designer Frames Embossing Folder, also a freebie during Sale-a-Bration.  And, because I was playing with new toys--wait, I mean tools-- I also used the Edgelits Adorning Accents sans the matching embossing folder.

The card actually has a different opening.  I fooled you!  You thought it was an every day, run-of-the-mill card opening.  Nope.  Here's how it opens...

See!?  The Baja Breeze back piece does not open.  So, something different.  I think this card could serve many occasions.  Birthday...yup.  Hello...yup.  Thinking of you...yup.  Get well...yup.  Golly!  Is there an occasion this card will NOT work for?  Probably not so good for a Bar Mitzvah.  Ah well, can't satisfy every need. :-)

A day of Grace

Today is February 29th.  It's the extra day of the year, so it's kind of like a bonus day.  An extra day of grace if you will.  With my "extra" day, I had to take my daughter to a neurologist.  We have been making the rounds of docs working to figure out a diagnosis.  When my daughter and I returned home, she wanted to rest, so I came to my crafting area to "chillax" (a new favorite word taken from the TV show Modern Family.  Love that show!).  I know I am a blessed person, but I decided to make something for myself, something that I can see on a daily basis that will remind me of God's Grace in my life.  I opened My Digital Studio (MDS) and made this project.

The frame is one that I had on hand, and I loved the way the page looks inside it.  MDS is becoming easier and easier for me to use.  This project took me no more than 10 minutes from inception to print.  Can you see the flourish from the brush set Baroque Motifs behind the words?  One of the things I like most about MDS is the capability to take an image and have your way with it -- make it bigger, smaller, or more transparent, like you stamped it in Versamark.  I printed onto Very Vanilla card stock.  It's very elegant looking IRL.  The color of the flourish and the text is Cherry Cobbler. 

Here's a closer look at the prayer.  It is a prayer written by Marjorie Holmes which I read today in a book entitled Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy by Sarah Ban Breathnach.   When I read the prayer this morning, I knew I wanted to have it start more of my days.  What better way to remember the prayer than to put it in a frame on my dresser for use each morning?!
